Tonight I am writing to you for a *BIG,BIG,BIG* favor! I am one of seventeen finalists chosen to compete for a seat at Marmalade Photography's "See The Light" workshop in Chicago, June 13-14. Marmalade Photography is the business of Marianne Drenthe, an incredibly talented, successful and well-known children's photographer in Chicago. To view some of her work, visit her website: http://www.marmaladephotography.com/. She offers photographers aspiring to grow their business and master their craft the chance to learn from her brilliance at her workshops (http://www.seethelightworkshop.com/) The 1st round of this contest involved submitting a picture of ourselves and listing 3 unique things about us and why we should be chosen to win this opportunity. The second round involves spreading the word about our photography bizz, and having other photogs. vote for us!!! So, here's where I need your help! If you are a photographer (small, big, huge, large, etc.) please, please, please click on this link (http://seethelightworkshop.com/blog) and vote for me!! Just click on my picture (the second one) and submit your vote. Only votes from photographers count, so make sure to link to your website, portfolio, flickr gallery, blog, etc. (you do not have to be a professional photographer!) In Marmalade's own words:
Here’s the rules for this leg of the contest:

one entry per IP address
only photographers may vote - this requirement is outlined once you click on the image of the person you are voting for.
a portfolio link to prove your identity as a photog is a must have for the email you send as a vote!
contestants get out there & pimp yourselves!!
voting ends on Monday, April 20th at 12 noon
Even if you are not a photographer, please forward this to anyone and everyone you can think of to get the word out!! If I win, I will be giving away TWO FREE PORTRAIT SESSIONS!!!

Sincerely,
Sarah

TJ2K

Hello Friends! Please take a moment to read the following blurb about the Tom Joyner 2K Run and Walk this Saturday, April 18th at Lake Eola. If you would like to participate, or make a donation, please feel free to contact me and I will hook ya up!

Join Tom, Donna & the STAR 94.5 Family for the TJ2K Walk and Run around beautiful Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando! This event benefits two meaningful causes including the Tom Joyner Foundation and Orlando’s own Nap Ford Community School - a title one charter school located in the Parramore region of Downtown Orlando.

The event will also feature a FREE Healthy Kids Zone. Nemours volunteers will be on-site to provide free body mass index (BMI) screenings, child-focused activities and information on 5-2-1 Almost None which aims at teaching children healthy lifestyle habits. Former Orlando Magic players Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw, along with members of the “Blue Crew”, will kick off the race and post-event festivities. Additional Healthy Kids Zone participants include the Downtown Development Board , the American Heart Association and Sarah Bray Photography. After the race, there will be fun for the entire family at the park, plenty of food and drink, and live music featuring national recording artists Heather Headley and Case!
For more information about the event or to register – http://star94fm.com/tomjoyner/tj2k/

Registration for the walk and run is $15, and begins on-site from 9-10 a.m. You can also save by pre-registering online for $10. Teams, church groups, schools and families are welcome! The walk and run begins at 10:30 a.m., and will be followed shortly after by the festival in the park. Donations will also be accepted at the event. Please bring your contribution to the registration area in front of the Lake Eola Amphitheater.

The Nap Ford Community School is founded on the principles that it takes the whole community to educate the whole child, and that every child will learn. In developing the whole child, the Nap Ford Community School believes that health and wellness are the foundation on which the success will be built. This positive approach to learning how to make healthy choices focuses on developmental assets and contributions that families, the school, and the neighborhood, youth organizations, and others living and working in the community play in shaping children’s lives. Understanding that nurturing personal habits related to wellness and learning are the cornerstones of success, the primary goal of the Nap Ford Community School is to ensure that every learner maintains motivation, enthusiasm and optimism in a safe, healthy, caring and learning environment. To learn more about the Nap Ford Community School, go to http://www.napford.org/.

The Tom Joyner Foundation only does one thing: It helps students continue their education at black colleges. All too often a student will get into college, then encounter financial difficulties that will force them to drop out. The Foundation provides money directly to the Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for the purpose of helping these students complete their education. Each month the Tom Joyner Foundation designates an HBCU to receive its support. The scholarship support money is sent directly to the HBCU for the students. The scholarships are awarded to the students through the Financial Aid Department at the HBCU based on financial need and other requirements from the school and the donor. To learn more about the Foundation, go to www.blackamericaweb.com. If you would like to donate, but can't make it to the race, please send your check to The Tom Joyner Foundation, Inc. P. O. Box 630495 Irving, Texas 75063.

Sweet Baby!

Well, if you're having a bad day for some reason, these pictures should cheer you right up! I mean, is there anything more perfect than a chubby, gurgly, scrumptious, soft, snuggly little baby?!! This little guy and I had a good old time hanging out, rolling around on the floor, doing some tummy time, and oh yeah....snapping a few pictures :)
