Happy Family

This was a really fun family to work with. The little girl, Spain (love that name) was a little shy at first, but quickly warmed up to me and my camera, especially with my helper, a little stuffed lamb named Nino :) And Caleb, what can I say - he was a trip...SO funny! Mom and Dad could not have been any nicer (and how beautiful is mom?!) Thanks S family for being so wonderful, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!!

Newborn Itty-Bitty

Meet baby Brodie. One of the cutest newborns I've ever seen, in my opinion!! Partly because, well he just is, and partly because he is the newborn son of some of our very dearest friends, Damon and Jessica. I couldn't resist getting my hands on this itty-bitty and he was just so darling! We did a quick little session in between feedings and was so good. Sorry it has taken me forever and a day to get these to you Jess. Hey - at least it's before his first birthday, hehe. Welcome to the world Brodie :)

Not Your Mom's Senior Photography...

Way back when I was a Senior in high school (we won't mention how long ago that was, wink wink) I remember very vividly having my senior portrait done. It went something like this: show up at the photography studio (along with about a bajillion other seniors), waitwaitwait for your turn, go back into the "studio" area, put a black cape on that had been worn by a million other people (ick) turn head ever so slightly to the left, tilt head, smile, click. The end result? A Senior portrait just like every.body.else. That's why I am so thrilled that today's Seniors want something more unique, creative and personal. I am very excited to be adding this fun dimension to my photography business! I will be looking for a few Senior representatives in March of 2010, so if you will be a Senior next year, or know someone who will be, please get in touch with me to discuss this exciting opportunity! Alex was kind enough to be my model for the day. We had so much fun and she is truly a beautiful girl on the inside, as well as the outside :)Thanks Alex (and Allie!) for being so wonderful to work with (and being willing to try out all of my ideas in the 100 degree weather!). Wedding Inspiration

I have a good friend that just got engaged (congrats Amanda and Robbie!) and is in the midst of a flurry of wedding planning! I offered to come up with some ideas for inspiration as far as a color scheme/theme. This is totally play time for me - I LOVE weddings! Good thing I suppose since I am a wedding photographer :) OK, so here are my ideas (working off the idea of navy bridesmaids dresses or a neutral color palette):

1.) Shades of White. I was totally inspired by these pictures of vintage French treasures. Of course this color palette gives you SO many options, you could add in ivory, cream, even pale champagne. Total beauty, luxury and femininity!

2.) Navy and Chartreuse. I love this color combo! I just think it is so fresh and lovely. Amanda's wedding is in March, so I think this would be a very appropriate spring-time look!

3.) Navy and Ivory. It doesn't get much more classic than navy and white (or in this case, ivory). I immediately think of Ralph Lauren - blues, whites, with touches of sterling silver and maybe even a little leather or wood. Femine AND masculine, sure to please the bride and groom.
PS - I am love with these flowers (anemones)

4.) Pink and Navy. So pretty and spring-timey! I love the way the hot pink pops against the navy and the pale pink softens the whole look to keep it romantic and add some depth.

5.) Navy and Yellow - I have never, ever seen this color combo at a wedding, but I love it! I am a sucker for anything nautical and I just love the clean, classic look of navy against bright yellow.

6.) Navy and Burnt Orange. Again, never seen this color combo at a wedding and I know it sounds kind of whackadoodle, but I am in love :) Orange and Navy are opposites on the color wheel, so they compliment each other beautifully. When I see this color palette, it makes me think of rich, sumptuous fabrics and saturated colors.

You may remember a post a while back about my friend and fellow photog, Emily Anderson. Emily is not only a super talented photographer, but she is also the cutest little mama I have probably ever seen! Can you believe she is preggo with her fourth baby? In five years??? I mean really - I looked like that the moment I found I was pregnant with #2 :) Hahaha, okay, well maybe not that early, but her bump is seriously adorable (and tiny!) Emily's kids got the cute gene too and are always so much fun to photograph. I can't wait until she does our family pics in September!!

Brand New

This was a super sweet two-part session! Baby C's mom called and asked if we could get some shots of her in the hospital - 10 hours old! Of course, how could I say no to that?! Is there anything more precious and perfect than a brand new baby? I think not :) We did a follow up session at home the following week and I was amazed to see how much she had already changed! Enjoy this precious time mom & dad, it goes by so quickly :)

I had just the best time photographing these twin baby girls! Everyone knows I have girl envy (being the mother of two very boyish-boys) and so TWINS just sends it into overdrive. The toys, the decorating, the clothes!!! These little bundles of cuteness were so fun, I loved watching them interact with each other and seeing how their individual personalities shined!

75th Birthday Celebration!

Corey and Shaun - Engaged!

Meet Corey and Shaun. They are both recent graduates of UCF (go Knights!) and are getting married next month. We spent the afternoon on campus for their engagement session this past Sunday. A few words to describe this couple: fun, sexy, gorgeous and IN-LOVE!! OK, that's more than a few, but this was seriously a good time. I love that they chose to do their engagement session on campus because a.) they were both students there when they met and b.) they are having their wedding at the Reflection Pond - how cool is that?? Council of 101 Spring Luncheon

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked to photograph the Spring Luncheon for the Council of 101, which is the fundraising committee for the Orlando Museum of Art. What a gorgeous day! The event was held at the Country Club of Orlando and showcased several local artists' work. I love all the happy colors! I think it's safe to say Spring has officially sprung :)

This annual meeting is also where they appoint the new President and Officers, congratulations to them all!

Join Tom, Donna & the STAR 94.5 Family for the TJ2K Walk and Run around beautiful Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando! This event benefits two meaningful causes including the Tom Joyner Foundation and Orlando’s own Nap Ford Community School - a title one charter school located in the Parramore region of Downtown Orlando.

The event will also feature a FREE Healthy Kids Zone. Nemours volunteers will be on-site to provide free body mass index (BMI) screenings, child-focused activities and information on 5-2-1 Almost None which aims at teaching children healthy lifestyle habits. Former Orlando Magic players Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw, along with members of the “Blue Crew”, will kick off the race and post-event festivities. Additional Healthy Kids Zone participants include the Downtown Development Board , the American Heart Association and Sarah Bray Photography. After the race, there will be fun for the entire family at the park, plenty of food and drink, and live music featuring national recording artists Heather Headley and Case!

Nemours Children's Hospital Groundbreaking Ceremony

In February, I had the great honor of being asked to cover the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Nemours Children's Hospital in Lake Nona's Medical City. I was so thrilled to be asked to be a part of this important day because I have come to feel so connected to the families through the Family Advisory User Group meetings. I have to admit, I did feel a little awe-struck, standing just inches away from the Governor, the Mayor, and a whole host of other really imporant people! However, little 4 year old Max Paul (and his parents) definitely stole the show! Max has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and is a patient at Nemours. Hearing his mother speak about what all this hospital has done for their family and how grateful they are for the doctors and staff made me feel SO thankful for my two healthy children, but also extremely thankful that there is a place where these families can go to get the complete care that they need.

Sia's 1st Birthday

I had the pleasure of shooting a 1st birthday party for little Sia on Saturday. She truly was a little birthday princess, just as her special hat said! All of her family and friends came out to celebrate with her, along with Mr. Richard and an awesome clown that did ALL kinds of balloon creations. Little birthday girl fell asleep shortly after eating her cake, but woke up just in time for some dancing and to give me some great smiles before the end of her big day :) Hope you enjoy being one, Sia!

Family Photo Shoot at Casa Feliz

Here are some shots from a really cool shoot at Casa Feliz in December (still a little behind on my posting, I KNOW lol). These are three grown sisters and their mom and dad! How sweet is that? They were great to work with, what a fun day!

Something Special

I did a little mini-session with baby H a couple of weeks ago. I also did his newborn (and mama's maternity) photos, so I love seeing how much he's changed in just a short time. What a handsome little man he is. I also did a 10x10 birth board (mounted on styrene) for his nursery - check it out! I will be posting many more of these in the near future. I really wanted our Christmas cards this year to be something special, showcasing both my photography and my incredibly, undeniably adorable kiddos. So, I decided I would take my OWN children out for a little photoshoot. Let's just say I am now well aware of why parents HIRE a photographer to do their family pictures, LOL. Owen was all over the place and Jack was just over it. period. I did manage to get some good ones that I ended up using, but my boys definitely brought the lols and then some in order for me to get them. I admit, I did a little photo editing on the Christmas card pictures, but for some reason, i just couldn't bring myself to photoshop the dirt, scratches and mystery "wet stuff" (drool? water from the fountain?) off of O's little face in the rest of the pictures ;)

Christmas Catch-Up

The holidays may be over, but I am still playing catch up with my pre-holiday posts! These are from a family session I did all around downtown Winter Park. We started out the clients' lovely home and then moved on over to Park Avenue, the Farmer's Market and Rollins College. I had a great time, the kids and parents were so easy going and fun to work with, I think we got some great shots!

I did another shoot for the Nemours Family Advisory User Group, this time for their December meeting/Holiday party! This is such an amazing, close-knit group of families, I just have to say once again how priveleged I feel to be able to work with them and the incredible people at Nemours!

Do I get to shoot the most beautiful families, or what? This is the second shoot I've done with these two cute kiddos and I love seeing how much they've grown up! Big sister is so sweet and attentive and little brother is just the sweetest thing ever. AND, they've got another beautiful baby (sister?brother?) on the way early next year. I don't know how one family can handle so much cuteness! :)

Oh, what a fun day this was! I just love little boys, they are so full of curious wonder and energy. This little guy and I were running all over Rollins, looking at bugs, listening to firetrucks, chasing kitty-cats, going upstairs-downstairs .... but every once in a while he would look up at me with the sweetest face that made me (and of course, mom too) just melt!

I drove out to Dade City for this shoot. It was a really cool day, they live on quite a bit of property with a big field and an old barn across the road - talk about a photographer's dream! It was slightly overcast and the lighting was just amazing and very dramatic. Of course the best part of the day was photographing these two beautiful boys! They were SO good!

These are quite possibly some of my favorite pictures! With kids this gorgeous though, it's hard NOT to get great shots :) All of these little munchkins (well, and two not-so-little ones) are cousins. I can only imagine the fun they will have together as they grow up. Total cuteness all around! Family Portraits

I love these! I did this shoot the day after Thanksgiving for a family of TWENTY TWO before their annual softball extravanganza!! It was a gorgeous day, bright and crisp and everyone was having a great time. They certainly have lots to be thankful for! These pictures make me laugh just looking at them! These little guys were so much fun. And, apparently they liked me okay because they told me that they wanted to keep me as their pet! Hehe, love it :) I have a soft spot for "boy" families (since I am the proud owner of one myself) and have absolutely no problem rolling around in the dirt with the kiddos in order to get the perfect shots - which I did!

Nemours Children's Hospital

Family Advisory User Group. I was truly honored to be asked to shoot this event. Parents of children with chronic illnesses meet with representatives from Nemours Children's Hospital once a month to discuss various plans for the upcoming hospital. The issues at hand are relevant to us all in Central FL, and especially to those of us with children. While I feel extremely blessed to have two healthy children, my brother was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when he was just 11 months old. I have to applaud these parents for devoting their time so selflessly to ensure that we all have the very best resources available should we ever need them. And of course, a huge thank-you and pat on the back to Nemours, for making it all happen!

I think I'm going to have to pay mom to let these two come work for me! They were a hoot - my cheeks literally hurt from laughing so much. They had great ideas and were so sweet together! Big brother discovered his "signature pose" during our shoot (see if you can figure out what that is) and didn't seem to mind hanging out with a bunch of girls TOO much :) This shoot was really cool because it captured four generations in one family! Grammy was a good sport, even though I hear she's not a huge fan of having her picture taken. I hope they will treasure these sweet images of their beautiful family for years to come.

Can I get one of these skirts in my size? These little beach beauties were just too precious. They looked like little white cupcakes floating down the beach! We had quite a morning....about 5 minutes after we arrived at our destination on the beach, we got caught in the freezing rain. We took a brief hiatus and resumed about 20 minutes later, comb in hand, with perfect lighting (thank you!). These two were troopers...despite being wet and cold, they gave me some great shots. Such sweet sisters :)

I did a maternity shoot last week with Katie and soon-to-be big sister Hannah! I just love preggo bellies! There's something so amazing and intimate about capturing a little person before they are born. Of course, mama's beautiful pregnant glow didn't hurt :) Big sister was just as sweet as can be, love her! I can't wait until December (or November!) when I get to meet this little guy face to face! Greater Orlando Scavenger Hunt

Last Saturday, I had the supreme honor of being asked to shoot the Greater Orlando Scavenger Hunt - a city-wide scavenger hunt who's proceeds went to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. I have to say, it was awesome being "behind the scenes" to watch the action as it unfolded! It was a great day, to benefit a great cause - what can be better than that? These are from a mini that I did last week out at the Disney Boardwalk. Talk about a fun group - the grown-ups didn't even mind my whacky requests to climb up on benches or make out :) The kids were all beautiful and so full of energy and I even had the honor of capturing the golden anniversary of the grandparents!

This is the second shoot I've done with this cutie. The last time I saw him, he was just six months old! He has grown so much and was such a little love bug, I think I have a new best friend! :) We played and played and he gave me all kinds of little treasures to remember him by (acorns, grass, flowers) - so sweet! We did the first half of this shoot at an amazing home, with a big, sprawling yard and gardens. Then, a few days later, we meandered over to the Art Center to get some more "architectural" shots. It's hard not to get a great picture of this one - he is just too cute, but here are a few of my faves.

Oh my goodness..... This little princess just had the sweetest, chubbiest little cheeks! She was so good during the entire shoot and gave me so many great pictures!!! I think she had a ball playing in the park and the day wouldn't have been complete if she didn't get at least a little bit of dirt on her by the time we were done :) We were all over the place and she didn't miss a beat! What a cutie.

Last night I shot a fall promotional event at Magnolia's Salon and Spa on Fairbanks, in Winter Park. Wine, hors de ouvres, cool people, free stuff? Twist my arm ;) It was a fabulous evening. Julie, the salon's owner, also happens to be my stylist/colorist, love her! The entire staff there is so friendly and professional. I will be displaying some of my work in the salon in the near future, so I'll keep you posted. This week, I had the pleasure of shooting headshots for five lovely ladies! I'm so used to working with children (which I love!) that it was a nice change of pace to have some grown up participants who were willing to change things up a bit. Two of the headshots will be featured in an upcoming issue of Orlando Magazine, highlighting the honorees for "The Greatest Night" an event honoring up and coming business professionals in central Florida. One of the nominees, Jaclyn Power, is committed to help fight cystic fibrosis (CF) by raising $5,000.00. The Holiday Mini Session includes:
a 30 minute session on location for any number of people, at least 15 fully edited proofs in a private, online gallery, and one high-resolution digital file for the image of your choice. Additional images from your session, as well as specialty holiday cards may be purchased at regular prices.
